Hundreds of people gathered on Alzheimer’s Day to move, learn, and connect
On September 21, 2025, Lima hosted the IMPACT 5K for Brain Health, a day that combined physical activity, information, and citizen participation as part of World Alzheimer’s Day.
Under the slogans #LetsTalkAboutDementia and #AskAboutDementia, the event brought together families, caregivers, health professionals, researchers, and the general public in a space designed to reflect, learn, and share around brain health and dementia.
Organized by IMPACT Salud, the event was supported by various public, private, and community institutions committed to brain health, including the Peruvian Brain Health Working Group—a collaborative network that promotes the connection between science, professional practice, and civil society to drive sustained action for brain health and dementia awareness in the country.
The day included a 5-kilometer run and a 1.5 km walk, along with information booths, photography and drawing exhibitions, activations, dancing, and live music. All activities were designed to raise awareness about dementia, highlight the institutions working on this cause, and foster collaboration among different sectors of society.
Several organizations—from government agencies to universities and media partners—joined this collective effort to promote brain health and raise awareness about dementia. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of them for their commitment and collaboration in this shared initiative.
At IMPACT Salud, we reaffirm our commitment to a community-based and participatory approach, one that values people’s voices and encourages the collective building of knowledge and action in response to dementia.
