Due to the International Day of Older Persons, October 1st, the IMPACT research project made a presentation, with a special focus on Work Packages 2 and 4, at the Iquitos Zonal Park Sports Center. The event included a detailed presentation of the project and a space for open dialogue, where older adults could express their concerns about caring for their mental health.

The activity was organized by DIRESA Loreto, which had the participation of four Integral Care Centers for the Elderly (CIAM). Representatives of the Pensión 65 program and the Ministry of Health were also present.

The event had the participation of the Iquitos supervisor and the field team of Package 2 of the IMPACT project, who, thanks to the coordinated labor, offered information about the project, resolved doubts, and extended an invitation to all older adults to join the project initiative. In addition, the opportunity allowed us to establish alliances with health centers and CIAM responsible to hold future meetings and strengthen collaboration in the field.

The event was rated as a positive experience for the Package 2 and 4 teams and the people who attended. This activity allowed the team to have a clearer and more realistic vision of working with this sector of the population, promoting significant learning in terms of how to establish relationships in an environment of trust and respect. For older adults, it was a special time to share their concerns, especially related to their mental health, their memory, and the loneliness that many of them experience.
