Economic burden and impact on quality of life
WP4 evaluates the economic burden of dementia and its co-morbidities in Peru. Using health economic tools, it estimates both direct and indirect costs associated with dementia, including healthcare expenses, lost productivity, and the financial impact on caregivers. WP4 analyzes the cost-effectiveness of the mHealth diagnostic app from WP2 and the intervention from WP3, providing essential data for policymakers. The economic analysis will support the design of efficient resource allocation strategies.
WP4’s findings are vital for understanding the broader economic implications of dementia and guiding decisions on how best to implement and scale care interventions across Peru.
Progress
Fieldwork and data collection are progressing well. The WP4 team has collaborated closely with WP2 on decision-making processes, developing questionnaires and manuals for fieldworkers, and revising the data collection platform (App and Redcap), particularly concerning health economics sections.
